Virtual Gilmore: It's Not Over Until We Say It Is

About the project

There are some television shows that inspire devotion beyond simply sitting and watching weekly. Whether through fanfiction or forum discussion, viewers want them to live on outside of their television screens. For us, Gilmore Girls was one of those shows. When it ended in 2007 with its 7th season, we weren't quite ready to let it go. We felt that there were more scenes to be written, more characters to introduce and many wonderful places the story could still go. So we decided to take matters into our own hands, and thus the first virtual season was born.

For an entire year, we lived, loved and wrote the Gilmore Girls. We had a hardworking team of creatives, as well as dedicated and supportive fans. There was praise, and criticism, and much debate, but through of all, our love for the show continued to grow. At the end of our 8th season, we didn't want the fun to end. And so after much deliberation, our team decided to embark on a 9th season. (Evidently we're just that tenacious!)

We aren't the first, and we won't be the last, to produce virtual seasons of our favorite show, but we have tried to create something that we feel is close to the real thing. As far as we know, nothing we're putting down here will ever make it to the screen. However, we've still tried to write it as close to episode style as possible. We're not using script format, because we feel it's difficult to read, but we do hope that as you read our season you'll get the same feeling as you would from watching the actual show.

As it did last season, our posting schedule will be following the regular television schedule, complete with hiatuses. Every episode will be announced on LiveJournal and Facebook, as well as right here on our site. Make sure you check back for updates! We'd also like to hear what you think of our work, so reviews and comments are appreciated.

We have an ever growing staff of organizers, writers, betas and technical people who are all volunteers. We're doing this for the love of the show and the characters, not for any money. That said, of course we don't own any of the copyrights for Gilmore Girls, its characters or settings. We're just borrowing them for the duration of the project.

We're writing this season not just for ourselves; rather, we're writing it for all the Gilmore Girls fans out there who wanted to hear more of Lorelai and Rory, and the rest of Stars Hollow. We hope you enjoy following the continuing Gilmore Girls story as much as we did planning and writing it. Please read, review, recommend and enjoy!
